In Saturday’s evaluation for young flatcoats one of the parts was a thorough evaluation of conformation. This evaluation was done by Finn Arild Thorsen (kennel Flat Garden) and Kirsi Nieminen (kennell Heilurihännän).
Next we went to the first step that evaluated natural tendencies – first in measuring how well they handled shots. After two shots – for Topi from a starter pistol – the dogs got to retrieve a mark.
The natural tendencies were also measured by hiding three birds in the woods, two had scent trails leading to them. The purpose was to see how the dog behaves when they bump into the scent trail and game – the handler wasn’t allowed to interfere in the dogs work.
