Now that another heatwave has started some thoughts on how we keep our dogs safe during our travels with our campervan. We intentionally planned our conversion with a insulated bulkhead with a door between the cab and the living area to control the heat and cold coming from the cabin to the living area. In this example case our van had been in partial shade for a couple of hours in the evening. Our rear door was slightly cracked – and we can have it locked in that position – to improve airflow and our fan was blowing out at 50%.
The bulkhead as seen from outside.
Outside temperature in shade under the van and cabin temperature.
Temperatures inside the living area, bed is very near the ceiling, inside is in the main area where the dogs are and water is by our water tank and pump.
