Since we were at nearly the south-eastern point of Finland, we decided to head up on small roads along the border with Russia. There we found this trail that follows a river that flows from Finland to Russia. Here we were just 3 km from the border and Kamu is looking towards Russia.

This is very close to where the passenger trains cross the border and is one of the places where Ramin’s parents used to bring visitors from the US to almost see the border to the Soviet Union during the 80s. In those days photography towards the border zone was prohibited. The border zone is still strictly controlled and entry into it requires a permit.
