After Klaipeda we took the the ferry to the Curonian Spit and pretty much the first thing we did was drive all the way down to the Russian border and take the dogs for a walk along the sand dunes there.
If you are even in the area we really recommend going to visit the Curonian Spit. The sand dunes and the endless beaches are just so fun to walk along and explore.
