We have a bit of a story to tell you. When we returned to our van from the long day at Crufts, the rear door of our van would not unlock. Every now and then we tried to figure out what the issue could be. Testing different scenarios and even ordering some spare parts to a friend’s address. Nothing seemed to help in getting the door unlocked and we didn’t want to try to reserve time at a garage to get it sorted out since that would have required too much advance planning of our route.
Finally here by the side of a Highlands singlelane road we had a slow morning and managed to get the door unlocked. The process required taking apart things from the inside that had been built from the outside, getting access to the wires leading to the lock and giving power to the correct lead. But we managed to get the door open and access the dog food we had behind it. And everything else that was there. The feeling of success was magnified by the gorgeous location. An aspect of vanlife is that you never know where you will end up working on fixing issues in your van. Sometimes it’s in a dodgy garage in an rundown industrial area, sometimes it’s in the beautiful Scottish Highlands.
