Today Kulo started his career in retriever hunting tests by participating in the working ability test for retrievers in Finland. Unfortunately he did not pass the test. But we are very satisfied with the progress he showed. He has been somewhat soft and reactive in new situations since he was a small puppy (something his breeder told us about).
Today he got overloaded before the test really even started by the scents, audience and the situation as a whole. But his retrieving instincts and drive to pick up game helped him overcome his softness and he succeeded to get many good retrieves. Unfortunately by his seventh retrieve he was pressurised enough that he broke the head of the bird being returned and thus failed the test. But we will continue working on his self-confidence and will get go for a passed result probably during the next test season.
