After our walk with the boys we drove into Ghent were Anna and Ramin walked around the city and then we drove to the south of Belgium for the night. There Ramin realised that we were not far from the battlefields of Verdun and so we decided to head into France and see the museums and remains of the battlefields of WWI.
Shortly after we returned home from our trip Netflix published a German movie based on the book All Quiet on the Western Front. It’s a book Ramin had read sometime during elementary school and it had left a lasting impression. That is why the battlefields of WWI were of interest. We really recommend the movie to anyone and everyone to watch.
Our visit was also punctuated by several loud explosions of large ordinance going off. There is still a French military area in Verdun and there was some kind of exercise going on..
